Run the Falmouth Road Race with Yoga Neighborhood!

Updated: Feb 27, 2022

Yoga Neighborhood is pleased to announce that we are once again fielding a team to run the ASICS Falmouth Road Race in 2022. The Road Race is always a big event, but 2022 marks the 50th running, and it’s going to be more special than ever. As a runner for Team Yoga Neighborhood, you’ll get guaranteed entry to run the scenic 7-mile course from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights, or you can choose to run (or walk) the at-home edition (while still getting all the cool 50th anniversary swag, of course). And you’ll help support Yoga Neighborhood’s mission to make yoga accessible to all in our Cape Cod community.

What do I need to know about the race? This year’s Road Race is scheduled for Sunday, August 21. In a typical year, the Town of Falmouth allows a field size of 12,800. Details regarding field size for the in-person race in 2022 are pending town approval and will be announced as soon as they are known. Race organizers are hoping to have a full field to celebrate our 50th running, and that will include an array of charity runners, including the Yoga Neighborhood team. The race typically sells out quickly, so running for a charity team is a great way to secure your spot at the starting line. For a course map, photos of past races, and all the information you need, check out the Falmouth Road Race website: https://falmouthroadrace.com/

What is the At-Home Edition? Once again this your, you have the option to run your race virtually if you prefer. You pick the time and the place to complete your seven miles during a seven-day period in August. You can run all seven miles at once, or you can break it up over several days. You can run in your own neighborhood or anywhere else in the world. You can run with friends and family, whether or not they are entered in the race. You’ll still get all the traditional ASICS Falmouth Road Race swag (delivered to your door!) and be eligible for official incentive prizes. And since there’s no pressure to finish in a certain time, you don’t even have to run—meaning anyone can participate, whether or not you’re a runner. You can walk, skip, or dance your seven miles. It’s truly your race.

How does the fundraising work? We ask each of our runners to make a $750 fundraising commitment, the lowest amount permitted by the Falmouth Road Race. Yoga Neighborhood will cover your $200 entrance fee, and we will also be there to help with your fundraising. We’ll guide you through the registration process and setting up your online fundraising page, and we’ll promote your efforts in our social media and at our community yoga classes. In the past our teams have also organized their own fundraisers, with profits going to help our runners reach their goals. The sooner you join the team, the more time you’ll have to raise funds before (and even after!) the race.

We have a limited number of entries available, so if you’d like to run for Team Yoga Neighborhood, or if you would like more information, please email capecommunityyoga@gmail.com.
